Irmak İmam

For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to creating. I have always loved to draw, cut, shape, and transform concepts into something solid and apparent. Throughout my youth and school years this enthusiasm persisted, which inspired me to attend art classes outside of school to further hone my creative abilities.

In high school I started to see architecture as a career that would allow me to combine my artistic background with my developing interest in physics, arithmetic, and problem-solving. I joined an outside workshop and began creating an architecture portfolio on my own, because my school did not provide art programs. I started by solidifying my artistic roots — learning about perspective drawing, human figures, portraiture, and anatomy — and through this process I developed a stronger sense of observation, proportion, space, and visual communication.

The connection between structure and creativity is what most appeals to me about architecture. I'm interested in how places are created, how buildings exist, and how design affects the way people move, live, and feel. My objective is to create environments that are not only useful but also considerate, human-centred, and significant. I see architecture as a discipline where imagination and technical understanding come together, and I am eager to continue developing both sides of myself through my studies.
